PEOPLE are being invited to a fundraising event in Taunton to raise funds to support Ukraine in the Russian war.

Money raised from ticket sales for the event will go towards buying essential vehicles to go to the frontline.

The evening will feature a five-course Ukrainian meal, traditions and music from the Eastern European country.

There will also be a talk from former Army medic Steve Brooks, from Shepton Mallet, on his recent Ukraine experience training military volunteers.

The event is next Friday (July 15) at St George's Wilton Church Hall, on Fons George, Taunton, from 7pm.

Tickets are £25 and are available from St George's office on 01823 284253 or via e-mail at office@stgchurch.co.uk. Further information is available at www.somersetaidforukraine.org.

A spokesperson for the group said: "We are continuing to organise our charity events with Ukrainian food, traditions and music and would like to invite you to joint and support Ukraine during this difficult time.

"By taking part you can enjoy delicious Ukrainian food, traditions and music at the same time play a vital part to support Ukraine during this difficult time.

"All food will be prepared by Ukrainian refugees who are forced to leave their homes but feel they can contribute from abroad.

"All money from the tickets will be distributed for vehicles to go to the front line in Ukrainian to support our nation."

A similar event is being staged at Cheddar Community Pavilion, at Cheddar Rugby Club, in Shipham Road, Cheddar, at 7pm on Saturday, July 23.

A fundraising evening at the King Alfred pub in Burrowbridge last night (Tuesday, July 5) was a sell out.
