THE Parent Support Group is a small, friendly group, which supports parents of children with dyslexia. Meetings are now in a new venue at Taunton Baptist Church on Silver Street Taunton, TA1 3DH, between 7-9pm, on the last Tuesday of each month (except for school holidays) This month, on February 26, a representative of Parent Partnership will be there to show how this service can support parents. Parents will have a chance to talk things through with someone who will listen to their concerns.
Parent Partnership aims to give independent, impartial information, advice, guidance and support through trained volunteers (Independent Parental Supporters) to support parents personally in a variety of ways, in discussing and considering a child's needs. Advice can be given about who parents should contact and what to do if they are in disagreement about their child's educational needs.
Membership and booking is not necessary. For more information phone Louise on 01823 665460, or e-mail s.winborn@btinternet.com For any queries about dyslexia, Helpline numbers are 01823 672 271 and 01278 732 671 or see www.somersetdyslexia.co.uk
