TAUNTON-based insurance broker Lloyd & Whyte is growing its Community Broking arm in the South West.

Lloyd & Whyte is an established independent insurance and financial provider, founded in Taunton in 1946.

They have recently acquired BH&S Insurance Services, based in Tiverton, which has now become incorporated under the Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking umbrella.

With so many businesses facing challenges, upheavals, and even closure over the last year and a half this South West-focused company is going from strength to strength.

In creating their Community Broking division, they recognised that the personal approach to business services offered by local companies has never been more valued than now.

The Pandemic fueled the “Buy Local” movement, as people recognised the value in a personal service on their doorsteps. This is particularly true when it comes to financial services and insurance, where local knowledge and the ability to deal with real people has paid dividends.

B H & S have always understood this benefit and are delighted to have recently become incorporated under the Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Umbrella.

Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking is a growing collection of local insurance brokers that have been operating in the South West for over fifty years.

Director of Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking, Paul Short, explained the rationale behind the move: “BH&S will be rebranded as Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking although our people and service will remain the same. When it comes to business, nothing beats local knowledge for a personal service.

“Knowing an area has always meant we can provide more accurate quotes as we understand the issues and potential pitfalls in any given area.

"That is why we are keen to grow our Community Broking division and we are excited to now have BH & S onboard as we recognised that they have the same service lead ethos as us”.

Paul said: “Another benefit of the merger is that Lloyd & Whyte are proudly part of the Benefact Group, a charity-owned, international family of specialist financial services companies that gives all available profits to charity and good causes.

Their “Movement for Good” campaign, aims to donate to local causes and they have £1 million to donate in 2022.

Richard Smith, who will continue to head up the Tiverton branch added: “Working within the community we support local businesses and individuals with a range of financial planning and insurance services.

“We’re different because we combine the strength of a larger network of insurance brokers with the quality, personal service you expect from a smaller business. In a world that lives online – we’re bringing insurance back to the community.”

The team are back at a number of key local shows this year- notably the Mid Devon show on 23rd July and Honiton Show on August 4.

“This year we have our own Marquee at both events and look forward to welcoming you in for a cuppa, or a pint of cider and a chat. You can also have a go at winning a quad bike or champagne.” Richard added.
