TWO girls will be seeing flower posies to help bring some cheer to a village holding its first fete for three years.
Fitzhead Fete returns on Saturday, July 23, after it was called off for the last two years due to the pandemic.
Connie Burton and Megan Sully, both 10, will be selling the tiny bouquets at the event between 2pm and 4.30pm at the village cricket ground.
They will be gathering the flowers and hand-tying them themselves in a bid to do their bit to make the big day a success.
The popular community fete, which traces its history back many decades, is set to be a bumper year once again, with free parking and entrance, and a host of attractions ranging from children’s races and games to a beer tent, brass band performances by Wiveliscombe Town Band to delicious teas with homemade cakes and scones.
There will be a traditional flower show tent, a barbecue all afternoon, fun village stocks, and a host of stalls selling everything from books to bric a brac, cakes to jams and chutneys, clothes to sweets, jigsaws, tombola, a prize draw, ice-cream tricycle and more.
The fete always attracts visitors from miles around, and if the weather is good, there will also be a bring-your-own barbecue at 6.30pm.
The following day, a fun Duck Race will take place at 3pm at Holcombe Farm in the village, where delicious cakes and teas will also be on offer in the gardens.
