A SOMERSET singer-songwriter has written a song to raise awareness of climate change.
Charlotte Eve, a performer and composer who lives in Bishops Lydeard, said she recorded ‘London Town - We’re Going Down’ after seeing the fires breaking out in the capital during the heatwave.
She said: "I've wanted to write a song addressing climate change for a very long time but it’s such a difficult subject to write about without sounding too preachy or contrived.
“Sat in the heat on Monday this week, watching the temperature gauge going up and up, listening to heat records being broken around the UK and Europe, and then seeing the fires breaking out across London, this new song came to fruition and I recorded it then and there.
“It is being released on August 5 but I couldn't wait to share it until then so I have put it on YouTube whilst the urgency of the heat wave is still fresh in everyone's minds - I want to help raise the alarm and I'm hoping this powerful song is shared as much as possible and helps energise people into wanting change."
The official digital release of the song is scheduled for Friday, August 5 but it is available on YouTube.
