POLICE are investigating whether an arson attack in a community garden was intentionally started by a gang of youths reported for anti-social behaviour.

The deliberate fire caused "significant damage" to the garden and grass and shrub areas on Fox's Fields, Wellington, at around 8pm yesterday (Friday, July 29).

At around the same time Wellington Neighbourhood Policing team received information about antisocial behaviour involving a group of 10 to 15 youths in the area of Millstream Gardens.

A spokesperson for the team said: "In light of the above, we will be carrying out increased patrols and we appeal to residents who witness antisocial behaviour of any kind in this area or in any other area across Wellington (and further afield) to help us to tackle the issue by calling 101 to report ongoing incidents or by visiting the Avon and Somerset website to report an incident that has already happened via the following link www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/.../anti-social.../ This will assist us greatly with targeted patrols.
