TWO board members who instigated the first Taunton Pride event have stepped down to concentrate on delivering creative events in the town.

Jenny Keogh and Liz Hutchin, from GoCreate, are grateful for the positive support of hundreds of participants at last month's Taunton Live and Pride celebration.

They have organised the Taunton Live festivals since 2015 and were behind the first Taunton Pride event which was added to Taunton Live in 2021.

As co-organisers, they are proud of the success of this year's Taunton Live and Pride and for GoCreate playing a key role in pioneering such an "impressive, unprecedented and popular event".

But, while Jenny and Liz will continue their involvement with the local arts and events scene as directors of GoCreate Taunton, they have decided they will no longer be on the board of Taunton Pride CIC.

Liz, director of GoCreate CIC, said: "Being an LGBTQ young person in Taunton even 10 years ago was hard - hopefully now, after celebrating two Pride events and one parade, it is somewhat easier to be your own authentic self in the town.

"People can walk down our Rainbow Path in Goodland Gardens and feel accepted.”

GoCreate chief executive Jenny said: “We would like to wish Taunton Pride CIC love and luck as it takes up its wings and flies high.

"We are proud of the role we played delivering the last two years' joint festival and wish the remaining directors every success as they independently organise and deliver Taunton Pride 2023.

"We will be now focusing on our new creative hub at Flook House and the many creative activities we deliver for Taunton.”
