WATERY Lane Preschool in Minehead has been awarded 'outstanding' scores in all categories after their latest Ofsted inspection.

During feedback the inspector commented that it was remarkable that despite the recent changes, the preschool has now received a fourth outstanding judgement in row.

In the Ofsted report, it states that: "The manager has an ambitious curriculum for all children. She shares this effectively with staff and parents. Staff make meticulous observations.

"They talk with parents about what children like doing at home. Then they skilfully adapt the learning experiences as children's interests change."

It added that: "Staff help children and parents to cope with changes amazingly. For younger children and those who new to the pre-school, staff tailor settling-in sessions superbly.

"They offer extended settling-in sessions which fully consider the needs of children and parents. When children move on to school, staff share information about their development with the new teachers as well as parents."

Liz Kane, manager at the preschool said: "We are over the moon with being awarded outstanding by Ofsted.

"As a team we have worked tirelessly to reflect and adapt to ever changing circumstances and without the amazing staff here at Watery Lane it would not have been possible, especially as we also expanded our provision this term to nearly double our capacity.

"This means that we can now offer places to children between the hours of 8am – 5pm during term time. I am incredibly proud of them all.

"Many people aren’t aware that we are actually an independent committee run Preschool and a registered charity, we receive much support from parents and local businesses who have made donations.

"In particular, Morrisons in Minehead have been a huge support throughout the pandemic and ongoing, supplying us with donations which we are very grateful for. Indeed, everyone who has helped by donating and contributing, we are so grateful.

"As an independent Preschool we have close links with all schools in the area and currently have places available from September for children age 2-4."
