AN elderly man was treated in hospital for head injuries after being attacked in a park by another man.

The victim, age 73, has since been discharged from Musgrove Park Hospital, but police are appealing for information about the assault in West Somerset.

The incident happened in the Memorial Ground, in Watchet, at the weekend.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "We’re appealing for witnesses after a 73-year-old man was assaulted by another man in Watchet.

“The incident happened between 7pm and 7.30pm on Sunday (July 31) in the Memorial Ground.

“The victim attended Musgrove Park Hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his head before being discharged.

“Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
