A HOUSE and five vehicles have been damaged in a Frome property fire that began in a front garden.

Two cars, a speedboat, a jet ski, and a motorbike were caught up in the blaze, which took place on Friday, August 5.

A neighbouring property also suffered minor heat damage.

At around 9.35am, firefighters from Frome and Martock were called to the scene of a hedge fire that was progressing towards the speedboat and house.

A Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received several calls reporting a hedge on fire that was spreading to a boat.

“Two fire engines were initially sent and, on arrival, they confirmed that this fire was now spreading from the boat to a property and requested further assistance of another two fire engines.

“This fire initially started in the front garden of a domestic property but spread to five vehicles including two cars, a speedboat, jet ski and motorbike, and also externally to the house.”

The fire was extinguished using six sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one main jet, and a thermal imaging camera.

The spokesperson added: “Four of the vehicles were 100 per cent damaged by fire and one car had minor heat and smoke damage.

“The house was damaged 60 per cent by fire and 40 per cent by smoke.

“There was also minor heat damage to a neighbouring property. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
