THERE was plenty of music and colour at Porlock Country Fair.

Hundreds of locals and visitors enjoyed the event in Porlock Recreation Ground after the cancellation in 2020 and a scaling down last year due to Covid.

The fun included Seb’s interactive musical band, children’s races and the dog show in the main ring, along with samba music and stilt walkers.

Also on offer were a bouncy castle play area, selfies with Dreckly and Demelza Dragon, games and activities provided by Minehead Eye’s Youth Club and Stacked Wonky’s play area and a space hopper obstacle course.

A fire engine and search and rescue vehicle were on site, as well as The Porlock Gig.

The Harley Davidson motorbikes added more colour and sound, complemented by the classic cars display.

There were traditional games, including a bearded pantomime dame inviting people to Splat the Rat or get the chance to smash crockery in Granny’s Antic.

There were several stalls, including fundraising for local causes such as the Church Spire Fund, local beekeepers and horticultural groups and the community orchard.

Tombola prizes were donated by Porlock businesses and residents and a variety of food was on hand as well as teas and cakes and a bar.

Porlock Recreation Ground Charity trustee Terry Gable said: "I was so pleased to be a part of it and proud to have organised it with some amazing people who went over and above the call of duty, in all that hot sun, to make it a success."

Also taking place was Porlock Flower Festival with plenty of amazing blooms in St Dubricius Church.
