AN action-packed day out for all the family is promised at the 174th Dunster Show.
The annual event, first staged in 1846, returns on Friday, August 19. after an enforced break due to the pandemic.
Once again there will be classes for horses, sheep and cattle, plus the ever-popular fleece competition.
The main ring entertainment includes Jamie Squibb’s hair-raising motorcycle display, Jonathan Marshall the horseback falconer with his wonderful Spanish and Friesian stallions, the parade of horses, the parade of hounds and later in the afternoon the wonderful spectacle of the parade of cattle and sheep.
The bursary presentation will also take place in the main ring thanks to the Exmoor Hill farming network who have donated £1,000 to the fund for 2022 and to Vicky Browne, chairman of the bursary committee.
Have a beer in the The Village Green area and be entertained with the Rivertones, Ron King’s Hot Six jazz band, and Punch and Judy with the Puppettree Company.
There's plenty to see and dp with trade stands, fun fair, food outlets, archery, laser shooting, static machinery displays, rural crafts, craft tent, ferret racing, amazing food hall.
Dunster Show Society chairman Roger Richmond said: "We are back and very excited. Come to Dunster in August - don’t miss out."
Richmond Harding, Exmoor farmer and chief sheep steward for the show, is this year’s president and is very much looking forward to a memorable day out.
