A TAUNTON man who has admitted four charges of rape faces a two-month wait to discover how long he will spend in prison.

Elias Arberry, 25, of Moorland Road, pleaded guilty to seven charges when he last appeared at Taunton Crown Court in June.

He was due to be sentenced by a judge in the same court this morning (Wednesday, August 10), but the hearing was postponed.

The case was put back to October 14, six days after Arberry, who is currently on remand in Exeter Prison, turns 26.

All the charges relate to incidents in May and involve the same woman.

The victim was among a number of people who arrived in the court this morning expecting to hear Arberry being sentenced.

But the case was put back for a psychiatric report to be completed.

Arberry will be sentenced for four counts of rape; two counts of sexual assault; and one count of wounding with intent.

By pleading guilty he has avoided a trial and his victim and other witnesses did not need to give evidence before a judge and jury.

Judge David Evans told Arberry when he appeared before him via videolink in June that he faces "a lengthy sentence".
