TAUNTON Carnival is returning this October for the first time after two years.
The carnival regularly took place in 2019 but was then postponed in 2020 and 2021.
Last year, after consultation with the carnival clubs the carnival committee decided that there was not going to be the annual procession.
Neither the committee nor the clubs were able to hold any major fundraising activities for more than a year and the clubs were not able to build to their usual high standards, the carnival’s websites explained.
But the “much-loved” illuminated procession is set to be back on the road this October 15 and entries are now open.
It will start from Tangier Way and wend its way along Wood Street, Bridge Street, North Street, Fore Street, East Street, and down over East Reach, finishing at the Hamilton Road junction.
Chosen in early 2020, Carnival Queen Sabrina King and Princess Jemima Gee will, at last, take their place at the front of the procession.
Organisers are encouraging people to join the event.
Anyone interested in either collecting or marshalling can email info@tauntoncarnival.co.uk Entries are open and available online here.
The carnival will take place on October 15 and the procession will start at 7pm from Tangier Way.
