A CAR dealership in a village near Taunton has closed without prior warning to customers.

Tracks of Taunton shut down its operation in Blagdon Hill on Friday (August 19).

The boss has written to customers of the Suzuki dealer on Monday of this week to explain the reason behind the closure.

Vehicles were seen being driven away on a transporter following the development.

In his letter to customers, managing director Stephen Ody said: "It is with great regret that due to changes in the motor industry and the impact of the pandemic that (sic) we have made the difficult decision to close Tracks of Taunton with immediate effect.

Somerset County Gazette:

"A multitude of factors including the limited supply of new vehicles and the investment required to improve the facility means it does not make economic sense to keep the dealership open."

Mr Ody added that Tracks of Exeter, which he also runs, will remain open.

He said: "We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this (the Taunton closure) may cause, but we will continue to offer our services from our Exeter dealership, who are prepared and ready to continue to look after you and your motoring requirements."
