A SECTION of road 180 metres long is to be closed for seven weeks while work is carried out to a train track.
The temporary closure to traffic in the parish of Burrowbridge and Stoke St Gregory will be in force 24 hours a day from Monday (September 5) until Sunday, October 16.
It will see Stanmoor Road closed for 90 metres northwards from Athelney level crossing and Curload Road closed for 90 metres southwards from the level crossing.
It will enable Network Rail to remove the track while the bridge over the River Tone is being renewed.
The level crossing will remain closed until all the track has been replaced and the follow up tramping completed.
Network Rail has written to people living nearby to warn of "noisy" heavy machinery being used.
