A SOMERSET West and Taunton restaurant has been handed a new four-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Golden House Chinese Restaurant and Takeaway, on 6 Holloway Street, Minehead, was given the score after assessment on July 27, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of Somerset West and Taunton's 280 restaurants, cafes, and canteens with ratings, 216 (77 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

Golden House Restaurant’s customers’ feedback included some five-star Google reviews.

Google reviews show an average of four stars out of five for Golden House.

One of the reviews read: “Recommended by staff at our hotel, and it didn't disappoint. Friendly and speedy service. Food was excellent. Would recommend booking ahead if in a group of more than four, as only a small restaurant. But well worth it.”

Another customer said: "Our food was really lovely and yummy and the service was very friendly and fast."

While another commented: “Nice restaurant, very tasty and authentic food, good portion sizes, not the cheapest but the cheapest is never the best. Highly recommend.”
