A MOTORIST had little choice but to admit a potentially dangerous manoeuvre after receiving photographs of their vehicle cutting up a cyclist.

The culprit was heading for a court appearance until he was sent a copy of the charge sheet and still pictures of their action.

It shows his front offside wheel coming close to the bicycle as the driver complete their overtake.

The driver then decided to plead guilty to the offence of driving without due care and attention by post.

They received three penalty points on their driving licence and a £384 fine along with £110 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

A tweet from Avon and Somerset Police's roads policing unit says: "This was heading for a court appearance but driver pleaded guilty to "Driving Without Due Care" by post after receiving the charge sheet & stills!

"It was a fast #ClosePass that could have ended so differently! #3rdPartyReporting."
