PEOPLE will this weekend be able to catch a film in a historic building in Taunton that has been derelict for 11 years.

Wyndham Hall, between Castle Green and Goodland Gardens, is currently being repaired by volunteers so it can be restored as a lecture hall and independent cinema.

The building was constructed in 1927 as a lecture hall following a gift of £1,475 to Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society (SANHS) by William Wyndham

It is now back in the ownership of SANHS and will open daily from Saturday (September 10) until Sunday (September 18), with films being shown at various times in the vintage cinema.

The hall will be open for viewing and events during Heritage Open Days between 10am and 4pm.

Short films will be shown in the afternoon this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, as well as next Thursday (September 15) and Saturday and Sunday (September 17 and 18).

It is a free event, but there will be a donation box with a suggested amount of £5 for SANHS - or you can give via sans.org
