POLICE in Taunton are appealing for witnesses after a break-in at the Superdrug store in the town centre.
At around 10.40pm last Friday three men wearing high visibility jackets were seen in Paul Street.
The three cut phone cables to the premises, which also borders Cheapside, before changing their clothing.
They then forced entry to the store and are believed to have been in and out of the premises throughout the early hours of Saturday.
Initial police investigations have already revealed the suspects left Superdrug shortly after 4am via the car park at the rear of Marks and Spencer.
Staff returned to the store at 8am on Saturday to find a large amount of cash had been taken from the store's safe.
Police are keen to identify two witnesses that detectives believe might have important information to help enquiries.
Both men walked along a lane which goes from Paul Street past the rear of Marks and Spencer and Superdrug at around 4am on Saturday.
It is also believed a number of other people would have seen the thieves.
Taunton town centre was busy on Good Friday night and officers are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
