A Somerset restaurant made it onto the 100 best in England list at the National Restaurant Awards 2022.

Osip was placed in 65th on the list, being the county's only representative in the top 100.

The Awards are judged by more than 200 experts, part of its judging academy, that are familiar with the industry with their roles including food writers, chefs and restaurateurs.

The National Restaurant Awards website says: “The UK is split into 11 regions, with members of the academy voting for the top seven restaurants that they have dined at in the last 12 months, weighted in order of preference. The results are compiled, and the top 100 list of the best restaurants is created.”

Restaurants can win a variety of awards such as Wine List of the Year and Chef of the Year.

They’re also given between one and five pound signs (£) which are used as an approximate estimation of the cost of food there and it doesn’t include drinks or a service charge.

Chef Merlin Labron-Johnson has made his name at Osip creating close links with local suppliers to really highlight the best of season produce in Somerset.

The Awards website states: "As a result, no menu is presented to guests on arrival with dishes dictated by what the restaurant has been able to get its hands on that day."

One reviewer on Tripadvisor wrote: "Really stellar food, unfussy use of ‘ordinary’ ingredients in mainly vegetarian set menu, but brilliant flavour combinations and intensity. Charming service from a young team. The best meal we have had in a while and easily comparable to 2 star restaurants in terms of taste and technique."
