A MURAL of The Queen in Taunton has been defaced less than 24 hours after it was finished.

Situated at the bottom of Kingston Road in Taunton, the mural was finished at approximately 5pm on Saturday, September 17.

This morning (September 18), it was already defaced.

The message seems to reference inheritance tax and from what it is understood, 'TA' refers to Taunton as it is the postcode starter.

One of the front teeth in the painting is also scribbled over with black marker.

Somerset County Gazette:

Artist Sam Gaden from Aerosol Art painted the mural on Friday and Saturday to "pay tribute to The Queen and give the people of Taunton a mural to enjoy her memory".

People on Facebook have already expressed their upset over the defacing.

Rock Smith said: "Only to be vandalised by a bunch of idiots. Probably thought they were being cool and edgy for being in the minority."

Adrian Fraser added: "Sadly already been vandalised. Bloody idiots."

And Torie Bailey said: "Why can’t people leave her in peace now, stand remember and reflect on what she’s done for us, her people, her country. I am in tears reading this, as the photos I’ve seen today, show how it’s been vandalised AGAIN.

"I hope the mindless animals that done this, get caught and made to pay."
