AN interactive art exhibition in Taunton is encouraging people to literally get into art.

Social Scaffolding opened in an empty shop in the Orchard Shopping Centre on Saturday (September 24).

Bucking the art gallery trend, visitors are invited to not only touch the exhibits, but also to take part.

You can climb into Alyson Minkley’s suspended, cocoon-like installation and add some stitching to its canvas surfaces.

How about becoming a living sculpture by wearing Lou Baker’s bright, quirky knitted sculptures?

Or maybe wonder as you wander around Juliet Duckworth’s installation with lights and sound - and make sure you don’t miss the secret, red rooms.

Alyson said: "It's all about community, connection, creativity, colour and conversation."

Social Scaffolding, backed by Somerset Art Weeks, runs from Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm, until Sunday, October 9.
