A TAUNTON couple are trying to trace the owner of a cot that mysteriously suddenly appeared outside their home.
The good quality cot was left outside their house in Gladstone Street complete with bedding and a mobile toy.
And underneath the mattress were four crosses.
"It's really weird," said the householder.
"It's in very good condition and has been left in such a way as if the baby had just been taken out of it."
The couple discovered the cot when they returned home from lunch at about 3pm on Sunday.
"It was just there in front of our house without any explanation," said the householder, who does not wish to be named.
"I'm a bit concerned and am trying to find out who it belongs to. I rang 101, but the police say it's simply lost property.
"I've posted it on social media and it's led to lots of responses without finding out who it belongs to."
The couple attached a note on the cot asking if anyone knew anything about it.
The house owner wrapped up all the soft materials such as the mattress and pillows so they would not be damaged by the rain.
It is now in safe keeping in a neighbour's garage.
Do you know who the cot belongs to? If so, let us know and we will put the owner in touch with the householder.
