A MOTORIST was seriously injured in a single-car collision in the centre of a Somerset village last night (Wednesday, September 28).
The man, who is in his 40s, crashed his car in High Street, near Barton Road, Keinton Mandeville, near Somerton, at about 9.15pm.
Emergency services attended the incident and the man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital, where he currently remains.
The road was closed overnight while emergency services were at the scene and recovery work carried out.
Repair work to ensure the area was safe was also carried out after a telegraph pole was damaged.
Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage, or witnesses to the collision, are asked to call police on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222234298.
