IF you hear David Bowie tracks blasting out in a north Taunton street, it'll be coming from Geoffrey Edwards' house.

The pensioner has turned his end terrace home into a shrine to the late pop star.

Geoffrey, aged 73, was smitten with the singer the moment he first heard Life on Mars on the radio.

His love of Bowie's music has now turned into an obsession, with memorabilia in nearly every room of his house.

He attended five Bowie concerts, including one in the former Odeon in Station Road, Taunton, has collected every CD of Bowie's music and has snapped up numerous pictures and other items.

"I was instantly struck when I first heard his music on the radio," said Geoffrey.

"I was absolutely knocked out when I saw him in Taunton in June 1973 and I'll never forget it.

"He came down with his microphone and said to a chap sitting next to me, 'What do you do?' He laughed when the chap replied, 'I drink cider'.

"Bowie came in Japanese gear and then kept changing into different outfits.

"It was a brilliant experience and ever since I've been right into him. He's been my idol.

"I've spent a lot of time getting all his memorabilia.

"When a neighbour heard of my obsession, she drew a lovely picture of him for me.

"I probably listen to Bowie songs three times a week."

Geoffrey remembers getting home from the pub and putting on his headphone to listen to Bowie's music in bed - and waking up the following morning with the music still playing.

He said he was surprised and shocked when Bowie died at the age of 69.

He added: "I remember his birthday on January 8, 1947, and the day he died - January 10 2016.

"I was stunned and shocked. He's irreplaceable. I was drawn to him like a magnet.

"I'd have given anything to have met him in person to speak to.

"I say a little prayer on the anniversary of his death.

"He seemed a nice, intelligent guy. He's greatly missed.

"He had so many great songs, but my favourite is Ziggy Stardust.

"I've got reminders of how great he was all over the house.

"I've got an apron with pictures of him on, but I don't use it in the kitchen because I don't want to ruin it."
