Taunton’s Jill Hansford is celebrating today in South Africa after the England Team won the World Masters Hockey World Cup in the Over 65 category.
The England Team competed against strong international teams including the UAS and South Africa. On 10th October 2022, England beat Scotland 2-0 in the final.
Jill, wearing shirt 13, was the fifth highest scorer in the O65 competition. Jill has a distinguished career in Outdoor Women’s hockey and has nearly 50 England caps to date.
Congratulations to Jill and the rest of the O65 team for their outstanding achievement.
Many people will also know Jill as the Taunton Branch Ringing Master for the Bath and Wells Diocesan Change Ringers.
When she returns from Cape Town later this week she’ll be resuming her other skills of teaching and enjoying bell ringing.
