STRODE College is celebrating its staff and students for Love Our Colleges Week, which runs between October 17 and October 21.

The event, now in its fifth year and organised by the Association of Colleges, is a chance for higher education centres “to shout about all the brilliant things” they do.

Strode College is using the week to showcase its academic work with students and the enrichment programmes it offers to further enhance their employability skills.

This includes its Super 8 employability programme embedded within the college's courses and tutorials.

The programme, designed by employers, helps students develop the skills they need for university of employment.

The core skills are communication; numeracy, resilience, problem solving, future planning, living and working in modern Britain, digital skills, and self-management.

As part of Colleges Week, outside organisations - including the British Army - have visited the campus to deliver sessions and teach important life skills.

Strode College joined forces with Weston College for a day of activities and competitions for the Army's Elite Skills Sessions visit.

Love Our Colleges Week is also used to promote Strode College's clubs and organisations, ranging from music and sustainability to sport and performing arts.
