Following an inspection with the BHA, racing on Wednesday 26th October has been abandoned due to hard ground and a lack of rain in the forecast. Annual Members and Season Ticket holders will be contacted separately, ticket purchasers will be refunded automatically.

Taunton’s next meeting is on Thursday 10th November when the first raceis due off at 1.15pm

Meanwhile anybody who calls into the office at Taunton Racecourse is likely to be greeted by Vicky Collard who was appointed earlier this year as racecourse secretary to replace Lucy Knight (nee Waldron) who previously held the post for 17 years.

Vicky will need no introduction as she grew up living locally and her dad Bob Collard played rugby for many years for Bridgwater and Albion as well as for Somerset. She has also previously been involved at Taunton Racecourse and last year worked in the gatehouse on racedays.

“Racing has been the biggest passion throughout my life so when this job became available I jumped at the chance, and to work in racing has always been my dream and I cant wait for the first Raceday.

Sadly there are no shares remaining in Royal Sam and the Taunton Racecourse Owners Club is full up, but despite this it is well worth keeping an eye out for the horse whenever he is running and hopefully that will be at Taunton before too long.

Other local trainers Alex Dunn , Philip Hobbs, David Pipe and Jeremy Scott all have successful racing clubs and anybody interested should make direct contact with them- alexdunnracing.com, pjhobbs.com, davidpipe.com and jeremyscottracing.net.
