TWO vehicles were seized and several drivers were dealt with for other offences during a police operation on a Taunton road yesterday afternoon into the evening (Thursday, October 27).

Taunton Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Roads Policing Unit conducted a road safety operation on Blackbrook Way.

Officers using speed detection devices and Automatic Number Plate Recognition devices stopped a variety of vehicles for different matters.

The initiative saw:

  • multiple drivers given words of advice and educated for their speeds between 30mph and 40mph;
  • two vehicles seized for tax being out of date by over two months, with one of those vehicles also having no MOT;
  • one driver dealt with for no MOT;
  • one driver dealt with for multiple defects on their vehicle;
  • one driver dealt with for driving while using a mobile phone.

A neighbourhood policing team spokesperson said: "There are lots of aspects of our work that we can't talk about on social media for various reasons, either due to ongoing investigations or it involves matters of a sensitive nature.

"Just because we don't talk about it on social media doesn't mean we aren't working on it.

"But with those matters that we can, we like to share that work.

They added: "We will continue to conduct these operations sporadically across the town, on suitable roads and locations."
