BUILDERS have been carrying out alterations inside the former Bill's restaurant in Taunton town centre.
The building, which has entrances in Cheapside and East Street, is being brought back into use as a bar.
It is believed the owners are planning to open next month.
District and county councillor Mike Rigby popped in this week to check on progress.
He said: "I popped in to see what they were up to in the former Bill’s site in Taunton.
"Lots of activity as another empty unit is brought back into use (bar)."
Bill's was forced to close during lockdown in March 2020.
Although it briefly re-opened that November it has since been closed.
A recent licensing application was submitted to Somerset West and Taunton Council by Gloucester-based Deckhouse (Taunton) Ltd.
And a planning application sought permission to carry out “minor alterations to the layout to include movement of the banquette seating and the bar moved 90 degrees on its axis and general decor updated”.
