A multi-vehicle crash on the A358 left three people hospitalised on Friday (October 28).

Rescue crews from Taunton Fire Station freed two people from their vehicles at the crash site near the Thornfalcon cross roads on the A358 near Taunton.

A spokesperson from the fire service said: "Two fire engines from Taunton were mobilised to a road traffic collision on the A358 at the Thornfalcon Crossroads between two vehicles, one of which was towing a trailer.

"Upon arrival crews confirmed that two people were trapped within one of the vehicles.

"Both casualties were released from the vehicle using RTC cutting gear and stabilisation kits, a hose reel jet and trauma packs were also in use."

Avon and Somerset Police said of the incident: "Emergency services were called to a collision on the A358 at its junction with the A378 near Thornfalcon at 10.10am today, Friday October 28.

"A Range Rover was in collision with a Ford Ranger which was towing a trailer and the traffic lights have been damaged.

"The driver of the Ford was released from the vehicle by the fire and rescue service and went to hospital by ambulance.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 10.15hrs to a road traffic collision east of Taunton.

"We sent an operations officer and three double-crewed land ambulances, and conveyed three patients to Musgrove Park Hospital.”
