A TAUNTON pub in a chocolate box building has closed.
The Master Thatcher, in Severn Drive, off Lisieux Way, ceased operating last month.
The business in an elegant thatched property is owned by Bridport-based Palmers Brewery, who we have approached for a comment.
The Master Thatcher has experienced a chequered past in recent years.
In August 2019 it "permanently closed", with the tenant blaming the cost of drinks imposed by the brewery and high overheads.
The thatched property was vacant for nine months before it re-opened under new management, running a 'Chew Chew Bbq Drive-Thru' three nights a week on top of the usual pub offering.
A member of the public living nearby said the pub was failing to attract high customer numbers.
Coupled with the recent pandemic and a time of rising inflation, it appears the tenants decided to call last orders.
