Taunton Racecourse host their first meeting of the season with a six race card that gets underway at 1.15pm.

With 45 horses declared across a six race card leading trainers Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson, Phillip Hobbs, Joe Tizzard, Emma Lavelle and David Pipe all have runners while top jockeys Harry Cobden, Tom Scudamore, Charlie Deutsch and David Bass are all booed to ride, good entertainment looks to be assured.

The big race on the card is the Invest South West Novices’ Handicap Chase over two miles two furlongs at 2.25pm which is worth almost £6k to the winning connections. The two horses likely to be well in contention here look to be the Joe Tizzard trained Mascot, and Ile De Jersey which is Nicky Henderson’s only runner at the meeting.

The first appearance of Taunton Racecourse Owners Club horse Royal Sam at the Orchard Portman course in the Maiden Hurdle over two miles two furlongs at 3pm is also likely to attract considerable interest.

Punters are reminded that a courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station 90 minutes before the first race and returns from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last.

Taunton host their next meeting on Thursday 24th November when the first race is at 12.40pm.
