TAUNTON will pay tribute to its war dead today (Sunday, November 13).

Remembrance Sunday begins in the county town with a civic service of remembrance at Taunton Minster (St Mary Magdalene Church) at 9.30am.

That will be followed by a marching parade through Taunton town centre, with dignitaries taking the salute on the steps of the Old Municipal Buildings, in Corporation Street.

An Act of Remembrance will be held in Vivary Park, with a wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial at 10.55am.

A two-minute silence will be held in honour of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in wars.

Rolling road closures will be imposed around the town centre from 9.45am, only re-opening when it is safe to do so.

We will publish pictures of acts of Remembrance from around the county later.
