A PROPOSED development on the site of a farmhouse and barns near Taunton would feature a total of 18 homes.

S and JP Investments has applied for planning permission including listed consent for the scheme at Nerrols Farm, in Batt Drive, Cheddon Fitzpaine.

Under the plans submitted to Somerset West and Taunton Council, the existing Nerrols Farmhouse would be converted into two dwellings; the barns on site would be converted into six homes, while ten new properties would be constructed within the grounds.

The eastern section of the farmhouse would be altered to create a "modern family four-bedroom dwelling", while a lean-to boiler room would be replaced by a utility room.

The six homes replacing the barns would contain many of the original openings and historic features.

A submission with the planning application says: "Many of the original window/door openings in the barns are retained where possible, with blocked up openings to be reinstated.

"New window/door openings to be sympathetically inserted where required, size and location to match existing. All new windows/doors will be painted hardwood to match

existing.

"The existing slates/clay roof tiles will be retained for re-use (replacing damaged tiles/slates as necessary) with roof structure retained where possible subject to structural assessment."

There would be a mix of five, four and three-bedroom properties, along with a number of garages.
