LARGE crowds of people ventured to Porlock on Friday night to watch the Living Nativity show.

Porlock is the self-styled Christmas capital of Exmoor and currently there is 52 Christmas trees & fairy lights glowing in every spare corner along the High Street.

Porlock's unique selling point is the Living Nativity which is the town's answer to The Passion Play in Oberammergau.

Local residents enacted the Christmas story starting from The Museum, calling at the inns & ending up in a tableau in The Stable at the Visitor Centre.

It was made more authentic with a real donkey & a real Baby Jesus.

All of which were bought with money raised by the residents at Village Soup Days, and erected by a gang of local Christmas enthusiasts.

A whole variety of events take place in Porlock throughout the Christmas season ranging from Exmoor Craft Fair to the Christmas Tree Festival, Santa Festival & Santa Dash.

As well as that the Let’s Light Up Porlock event takes place, as does the Community Christmas Lunch, carol services,Christmas Concert, visits by Santa & Carol Singing around the village.

One local said: "Porlock is definitely a visit during this Christmas period, it is an experience you’ll never forget."
