- The M5 was closed in both directions for several hours today (December 18) between Taunton and Bridgwater while police resolved an ongoing “welfare concern incident”.
- The motorway re-opened at around 1.15pm after the incident came to a “safe conclusion” but there were around five miles of congestion in both directions.
- Travel Somerset later said the delays had cleared and the traffic was easing.
