WELLINGTON Town Council has confirmed it is planning to appoint its own community warden.

The proposal was approved at a special meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee on Monday, December 19 and will now be considered by the full council in January.

Town clerk, Dave Farrow, said: “For the past few years this service has been commissioned from ID Verde but they have advised us that they can no longer provide it.

“The committee considered that employing our own warden would give greater flexibility to the role and put the council in a good place to take on more work as local government reorganisation results in more services being devolved to town and parish councils.”

The Policy and Resources Committee also considered a proposal to review Wellington’s boundaries but it was not felt to be the right time with the impending local government reoganisation.
