AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy from Taunton is collecting warm clothes and food to help the homeless over Christmas.

Ethan Kana-ah-Pollak decided to help those in need this Christmas by collecting donations around Taunton for those who will spend the festive seasons on the streets.

He said: “I want to help the homeless as they don’t have a home or any food or anyone to look after them. They won’t get a Christmas dinner or anything from anyone.”

Sarah Kana-ah, his mum, is helping with the collection and once they will gather enough to help those who need support, will go out with Ethan to hand over the donations.

She said: “He has seen homeless on street and always walked past and wanted to give some change or help them.

“We are very proud of him and the little boy he has become. Thinking of others and remembering at Christmas that people are out there with nothing and no one.

“I think it’s important to educate about homelessness as it can happen to anyone.

“Be kind and remember to give back to those out there who have no one and nothing.

“Christmas isn’t about receiving. It’s about being with family, and loved ones and thinking about those out there who find this very difficult time of the year. His dad couldn’t be prouder of him."

Ethan is collecting hats, gloves, scarves, waterproof jackets, hot drinks, soup, and tinned food. He is collecting sleeping bags too and blankets.

Sarah also said: “Ethan was shocked to see all the responses we received from social media.
"It just shows how supportive the community can be. He has been working hard to make it happen, it means a lot to him. He thought about it in depth."

Sarah has been collecting items for a few years to help the hospital children’s ward.

Anyone who wishes to help, can contact Sarah on her Facebook profile and make a donation.
