A CHARITY music festival in Taunton is being sponsored by a family-run cider firm.

It’s in the Bag Cancer Support has announced Sheppy’s Cider its silver sponsor for Test Fest Music Festival at Taunton Rugby Club on Saturday, June 17.

Sheppy's - with sixth generation Master of Cider David Sheppy at the helm -  is known for supporting events such as The Great Exmoor Bike Ride and Taunton Pride and used to organiser the Sheppy Fest music festival.

Matt Hill, from Sheppy’s Cider, met Test Fest organisers Sue and Bill Brand.

Test Fest focuses on raising awareness of testicular cancer.

Sue Brand said: "Having met with Matt, we agreed that Sheppy’s Cider would be a brilliant sponsor for the festival as they not only understand what we are trying to achieve, but like to support the local community and reach out to people in Somerset and surrounding area.

"We look forward to working with Sheppy Cider and thank them for their support."

Matt Hill said: "We are extremely proud to be working with It’s in the Bag, a charity that highlights awareness for this disease, doing so with a refreshing and positive approach.

"We hope that our collaboration will highlight the awareness to an even wider demographic in the South West and beyond."

The aim of the event is to encourage people to attend from all over the South West to watch bands, eat, drink, catch up with friends and have a good time.

The team in the background talk about the importance of self-checking, sell merchandise with our messages on them and talk to attendees about what the charity does and how it helps.

By the end of the day, there are many festival goers wearing the charity's T-shirts and bright orange pants on the outside.

Test Fest is like a mini testicular cancer family.

Most of the bands donate their performance to the charity or play at a very reduced rate.

Headliners are Stereosonics (Stereophonics tribute) supported by local bands Filta and The Jamestown Brothers.

The event aims to support men at diagnosis and during treatment, raise awareness to encourage early detection and celebrate the 98 per cent survival rate from Penzance to Worcester.

People are encouraged to make a weekend by camping for two nights.
