St Margaret's Hospice Care charity hosted a swim to raise money on New Year's Day in Minehead.

The dip happened yesterday, January 1 at Minehead Beach. The event started at 1pm and ended by 4pm.

A spokesperson from St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice said: “We had such a great day at the Charity Dip and are so proud of everyone who took part, braving the cold sea in some rather rainy weather conditions!

“You all did amazing and we're hugely grateful for you and your families coming down and supporting St Margaret's Hospice.”

One of the swimmers shared her story on how the charity helped with her husband's cancer diasease. In her words, “Ray received hospice care from a hospice close to where we lived at the time, it made a profound difference to us both.

"From their community team who made sure Ray was receiving the correct medication to being sign posted to support groups.  It was such a comfort to know that we weren’t alone and there were other people going through the same thing we could talk to."

Services offered by the Hospice Hub in Somerset include day hospice services, rehabilitative therapy, outpatient clients, a community nursing team, occupational therapy, a career support group, specialist in-patient beds and more.
