AFTER Taunton Town's 1-0 defeat away against Dover Athletic, head of football Rob Dray discussed the match, the squad and the rest of the season.

He started by saying the performance was good, but not enough.

"I thought we looked a little bit rusty in the first half, it was evident we hadn't played.

"We had a lot of indecision and I think our pass selection was not the greatest, but getting in half time at nil nil away from home in these conditions was good.

"But as soon as they scored in the second half we had to snap out of it, which we did and we looked like a good side after their goal.

"However we got awarded a penalty and missed it, which was unfortunate."

He added that the defeat was amplified by the lack of game time for the players recently.

"No excuses, we can do a lot better, however I think our inactivity was on show tonight. There was a lot of good things but it was a hard game and we could have done better."

To the supporters who made the long journey to Dover, Dray said: "Massive respect to them.

"It is unbelieveable that so many fans made the trip, fair play to them and thank you. Your presence is always appreciated."

And on the club and players for their commitment, Dray added: "I think massive respect has to go to our players and our club for getting this game on a Tuesday night in Dover.

"National South isn't for everybody, it takes a certain person with a certain mentality and commitment level to take two days off to come and play this game."

Moving forward, Taunton face Torquay next, away from home on Saturday in the FA Trophy Fourth Round Proper.

Dray said: "Can't feel sorry for ourselves can we, and we won't, our attention switches straight to Saturday.

"We go down to Torquay now, Taunton Town have played Yeovil in the FA Cup and Torquay in the Trophy in one season. What an achievement.

"It is a fantastic opportunity to put things right and we are total underdogs.

"I think our fans will know we will give it a good go."
