FIREFIGHTERS have been called out to rescue a motorist who got stuck in floodwater on a country road near Taunton.
Crews from Taunton Fire Station's White Watch and volunteer firefighters were sent to the incident in Creech St Michael last night (Thursday, January 12).
A spokesperson for the fire station said: "White Watch and on call firefighters rescued a motorist from floodwater near Creech St Michael.
"Crews used flood suits and wading poles to assist the driver."
Meanwhile, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has issued a warning to motorists to avoid driving through floods.
A DSFRS spokesperson said: "If you come across floodwater on the roads, please don't drive through it.
"Turn around and take an alternative route.
"It only takes a small amount of water to float your car, and just an egg-cupful of water sucked into your car’s engine will lead to severe damage."
