AFTER Taunton Town's 4-2 defeat away at Torquay in the FA Trophy on Tuesday night, manager Rob Dray said his focus now switches to the league.

On the match itself, Dray said his side were good in parts and perhaps surprised a few watching.

"I was disappointed with the two early goals if I am honest, however we were deserved to get back in this game and we played well for large parts of that first half.

"My team can mount a challenge any team in front of them and they did well."

He said that the red card made it more difficult.

"We got back so well to get it to 2-2, the boys played so well for that spell but unfortunately the red ruined the game.

"The turning point was the sending off, and it was close to me, it wasn't a red in my books. We will be appealing it. Yellow at most."

In the second half, Torquay drew two goals in front. Dray said for a period it looked like Taunton could hold on.

"It was difficult in that second half, we wanted to hold on for as much as possible but we also wanted to try and score.

"We gave a good go of it, however the Torquay third goal was the final straw really in terms of the result."

Taunton now have a difficult away trip to Dartford on Saturday (January 21), who are currently top of the table.

Dray said his side is a match for anyone in this league, regardless of league standings.

"Listen, I think we have proved that across our 19 league games, the FA Cup and the FA Trophy, we are more than a match for anyone in the National League."

He added that the Peacocks squad whilst small, has plenty of fight.

"We turn up, we have a small squad, we patch ourselves up and we go for it.

"We look forward to it, we are quite happy being the underdogs, so we are quite happy to be going up there at the moment."

The match kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.

Taunton Town are next at home on Saturday, January 28 against St Alban's.

Moving in to February, Taunton will be playing Saturday/Tuesday for the entire month, weather permitting.
