AN Olympic great is to put a group of Taunton primary school pupils through their paces in a training session.
Runner Jo Pavey, who took part in a British record five Olympics, is coaching the six sports leaders from Blackbrook Primary School next week.
The session takes place at the walking track wildflower meadow at WPA health insurer, based on Blackbrook Park Avenue, on Tuesday (January 24).
The event comes after Jo agreed earlier this month to become WPA's brand ambassador, encouraging its staff to become healthier.
A WPA spokesperson said: "With the post-Covid reported health issues of children returning to school less fit, active and sociable, we want to help inspire children to get fit.
"Healthy activity makes children more attentive, helping them make the most of learning.
"If that activity becomes a habit, they will be more likely to be healthier into adulthood."
Jo has already carried out some fitness training with WPA staff and will be taking them for a run ahead of her session with the Blackbrook pupils.
On Monday (January 16) the WPA team completed 800 laps of the track to raise funds for The Samaritans.
