PUPILS at Thurlbear Primary School took their teddy bears to lessons last Friday.

It was all to help raise funds for the Care and Relief for the Young charity, which supports street children in Eastern Europe and other countries.

The teddies were judged, with prizes for the biggest, smallest, best dressed, cutest and one most like its owner.

Three teachers from the school are travelling to Armavir, in Russia, this summer to run a camp for Chechen refugee children as part of the CRY project there.

So far the total raised from the day is £137.59, all of which will go directly to the project in Armavir.

Thurlbear will be holding more fundraising events this year and one parent has raised £200 through a sponsored cycle ride.

Any individuals or businesses who would like to donate funds or resources should contact the school on 01823-442277 or e-mail pmelling@educ.somerset.gov.uk
