EMERGENCY services were called to the scene of a collison on the A358 at Ashill yesterday after an accident between a car and a lorry.

Avon and Somerset Police report that the collison happened at around 4.15pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 1).

The driver of the car was airlifted to hospital, while the lorry driver was unhurt. It has been confirmed that the lorry was from Sparks Transport.

In order to avoid delays, motorists were asked by authorities to avoid the area and follow the diversions at junction 25 of the M5 Thornfalcon and the A358’s junction with the A303.

Specialist recovery of the lorry was required before the road could reopen.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage to contact them.
