PLANS have been revealed for a development of up to 100 homes in a village near Taunton.

Gladman Developments Ltd wants to build the scheme in agricultural fields at North End, Creech St Michael.

A planning application to Somerset West and Taunton Council says: "The overall vision is to provide a new sustainable residential development that fits logically into the existing settlement pattern, responds to the character of Creech St Michael, and is connected to both the existing village and surrounding countryside by a network of footpaths."

A previous application for 200 homes on the site was rejected by the council in 2018 - a decision upheld on appeal.

Gladman says the proposals will prioritise alternatives to car use, with a network of footpaths across the site.

There would be new habitats, native trees and shrub planting and grassland, as well as street trees for "urban greening".

A central play area is included in the proposals, along with an arrival green and allotments.

A mix of housing types is proposed, including affordable homes. There would be first time buyer homes up to family homes, ranging in size from one to five bedroom properties.

The homes, which will predominantly feature rendered walls and occasional brick buildings, would be built on a 3.03 hectare plot, with the overall site taking up 6 hectares.

The planning submission adds: "The overall vision is to provide a new sustainable residential development that fits logically into the existing settlement pattern, responds to the character of Creech St Michael, and is connected to both the existing village and surrounding countryside by a network of footpaths."
