A TAUNTON man has been charged with murdering another man in Wellington earlier this week.

Nicholas Stutt, 33, of Laburnum Street, Taunton, is due to appear in court today (Friday, February 10).

He is accused of killing Lewis Smith, aged 30, at an address in Jurston Lane, Wellington, on Tuesday morning (February 7).

Stutt has been remanded in custody ahead of his appearance at Bristol Magistrates' Court today.

Police revealed yesterday (Thursday) that Mr Smith died from a single stab wound.

Emergency services were called to the property in Jurston Lane at about 8.25am on Tuesday.

Mr Smith had been critically injured and died shortly afterwards despite the best efforts of paramedics.

Stutt and a woman were arrested later in the day following the incident.

The woman was later released without charge.

Avon and Somerset Police then announced this morning that Stutt has been charged with a single count of murder.
